Experience Matters

To create a community of organizations that foster meaningful work and service opportunities for experienced people in the second half of life. To transform the model for community engagement by leveraging community resources to tackle our most pressing social issues.

The Experience Matters Consortium began as a year-long initiative to engage older adults' time, talent and experience to help meet Maricopa County's growing needs in the public and nonprofit sectors. With initial leadership and funding provided by The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, and the Arizona Community Foundation through a grant from Atlantic Philanthropies, Experience Matters has developed a strategic plan outlining an overarching framework designed to systematically and strategically connect the dots between those wanting social purpose opportunities and the organizations and institutions that could benefit from the time and talents of experienced adults.
