Ethan Lamar

My name is Ethan Lamar Phillips and I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I have been in Dallas, TX on and off  since 2010. I started Writing and doing Stand-Up Comedy in Atlanta, GA. I moved to Dallas because I wanted to further my career in comedy and writing. My love for stage plays began when I was in my first year in college at 21 years old when I saw my play about the Black Panther Party. For years I did not do anything with my passion until I reached the age of 38 years old. That's when I began writing my first stage play and doing stand-up comedy. When I came to Dallas, I would do amateur nights at certain comedy clubs in Deep Ellum. When I did my first stand-up act, I was put on stage by Actor/Comedian Quincy T. Bonds who played "Pookie" the Barber on "Tyler Perry's House of Payne." If it was not for him, I probably would not have the confidence to do what am doing today. In Dallas, TX I also attended The Art Institute of Dallas Film School and KD Studio Acting and Performance. I did my first Stand-Up comedy on my own entitled "Just Me" in Dallas, TX at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters in June 2015.
