The Escambia County Professional Firefighters Charity is a local non-profit organization. Our goal is to support and give back to the community we protect and serve. Our "giving" started about 13 years ago when the county first hired career firefighters. Firefighters would donate money, out of their own wallets, to families that suffered a loss resulting from a residential fire. This giving evolved into what we now call the "Burn Fund." This fund pooled money donated by firefighters for future charitable use. As a group, we then decided how to best distribute that money. A portion went to families that fell victim to fires, while some bought Christmas presents for needy children in the community. A percentage of this money is contributed to charities we have been supporting for years, such as the MDA and The Ronald McDonald house. Our organization also keeps money in reserve to assist fellow firefighters if and when they should get burned on the job. Money donated to these firefighters helps to offset some of the expenses incurred that workers compensation or insurance does not cover.
We plan to continue with the same pattern of giving and hope to continue supporting our community on a broader spectrum. With your help, our organization will continue to grow into a world class local charity. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and can be made payable to : ESCAMBIA COUNTY PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS CHARITY.
