Eastern Shore Community Services Board

The Eastern Shore Community Services Board (ESCSB) provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare services for the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The ESCSB is a non-profit, tax-exempt, political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia providing outpatient mental health, substance abuse counseling and developmental disability services.

Mission Statement

The mission of the ESCSB is to provide services, supports, prevention and education regarding mental health, intellectual disabilites, developmental disabilities and substance use issues to the people of the Eastern Shore of Virginia utilizing a person centered, coordinated care delivery model.

History

As provided in the Code of Virginia, the ESCSB was sanctioned and formed by the local governing bodies of Accomack and Northampton County in 1971. Licensed and funded through the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, the ESCSB is one of 40 community services boards in Virginia. These community services boards, in conjunction with 16 state facilities, form the public mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse service delivery system. Annually, over 2,000 individuals are served by the ESCSB.
