The Youth Philharmonic Orchestra is dedicated to enhancing the musical, social and intellectual growth of young musicians, ranging in age from third grade to age 25, of all ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. This is accomplished through inspired instruction, dynamic ensemble rehearsals and exceptional performances. YPO supports and complements music programs in the schools and its members should participate in their school instrumental music program, if available.

The YPO Soloists Ensemble for advanced, pre-professional students ages high school to 25, are trained to perform as soloists as well as orchestra and ensemble members. They won 3rd prize in the 2011 The American Prize competition for excellence in performance by a youth orchestra and were a 2012 American Prize for Excellence in Performance by a Youth Orchestra finalist. Artistic Director/Conductor Alyze Dreiling won 2nd prize in the 2011 American Prize Conductors Award for conductor of Youth Symphonies, and she was a finalist for the Vytautas Marijosius Memorial Award in Orchestral Programming.
