When it comes to celebrating the best of who and what we are as Same Gender Loving people of color, Dallas Southern Pride knows how to get it right. In 2016, Dallas Souther Pride will host the 19th Annual Black Gay Pride Weekend, this is one of Dallas's premiere weekends and will happen September 29 - October 3, 2016. There are a host of events and activities that happen throughout this weekend in Texas that are set up in true Lone Star Style, including the Ball/House and Pageant Communities Conference. Earlier in the year will be the recognition and celebration of Juneteenth, a special day in Black history that started in Texas.
The Annual Back Gay Pride Weekend is designed to promote an atmosphere of positive interaction between Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender individuals. There are many things which happen throughout a year's time that can make us feel as if we are invisible or irrelevant, however Dallas Black Pride 2016 sets the tone for us to foster support for organizations addressing health, education, economic and social issues affecting local LGBT communities of color. Dallas Southern Pride remains the only local Black Pride organization with a long-standing history in this area for providing signature events aimed at the Black LGBT community.
In 2015, more than 10,000+ participants converged on Dallas for the city’s signature Black Gay Pride circuit party of the season, a full four-day festive weekend. While historically prides have been predominately gay male events, Dallas Southern Pride continues to build alliances and partnerships that are inclusive of local women and transgender organizations to ensure the needs of all communities are addressed with workshops on relationships, health, wellness and financial planning. Our events hold a distinguished history in our community, and continues to be a part of our ongoing commitment to educating and empowering women and Transgender individuals of color.
Dallas Southern Pride will host a series of events and parties starting on Thursday, September 29 and ending on Monday, October 4 to include an Official Kickoff Partyand Ball, and so much more planned. Be sure to link to the Events 4 Him and/or Events 4 Her link for more information. We are sure that if you attend this year's Black Gay Pride Weekend, you'll meet new friends, engage in a dialogue or conversation that will lift you higher and encourage your heart. As members of our Beloved Community get older, partying remains a focus, but only once or twice a year and we hope you'll make this your party and soul-filling weekend.
