Dakota County Master Gardeners

There are more than 130 Dakota County residents who are Univerity of Minnesota Extension-trained Master Gardeners who volunteer thousand of hours to the community each year. The mission is to educate and assist the public by answering and solving problems about horticulture and related environmental topics.

Priorities of the Master Gardener Program are:

1) Horticulture Skills, 2) Local Food, 3) Climate Change, 4) Nearby Nature, 5) Clean Water, 6) Pollinators, and 7) Plant Diversity.

What we do:

Extension Master Gardeners use up-to-date-University information to provide education and horticulture resources to: 1) Teach classes to youth and adults, 2) Speak to groups, 3) Participate in community events and projects, 4) Write articles, 5) Conduct research, 6) Answer gardening questions online and by phone, and 7) Partner with other state and county organizations.
