Culture Days

“Culture Days exist because it allows anybody – one individual or a group of individuals, an organization, or kids – to come together and to support arts and culture. Communities of the future, communities that are going to thrive, are ones that have embraced culture as part of this quality of life indicator,”

- Dan Mathieson, Mayor, City of Stratford, Ontario

Every Culture Days features thousands of free, hands-on activities that invite the public to participate “behind-the-scenes,” while discovering the world of artists and creators in their communities.

Culture Days raises awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Starting on the last Friday of September each year, Culture Days takes place in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the country. During this annual three-day celebration, thousands of arts and cultural groups host free participatory public activities bringing together millions of Canadians.

Everyone can play a role in Culture Days, including artists, arts and/or cultural organizations, community groups, municipalities, libraries, schools, citizens or businesspeople. Whether you are already passionate about arts and culture or curious to discover new experiences, you can take part in Culture Days.
