Community Works NYC and Community Matters NYC in association with the City College of New York

Community Works is a premiere New York City-based arts organization with award-winning citywide programs that celebrate community, diversity and the creative spirit. Each year our multicultural programs reach more than 100,000 youth and adult audiences, from performances and exhibitions to workshops, professional development and arts-learning curricula.

Theater Connections, our very first program, was launched in 1990 with the goal of bringing multicultural arts experiences of the highest quality to young audiences in affordable, dynamic and accessible ways. Over four thousand performances later, the program has become one of the most popular, heavily attended and highly respected arts series offered to New York City schools.

Theater to Go brings a world of arts to you! Choose from over 100 of our interactive and culturally diverse programs on our roster. Our staff will work with you to create a program specifically designed to meet the needs of your classroom experience, special event or assembly!

Community Connections brings artists into the classroom for hands-on workshops in dance, music, theater, writing and visual arts that can be combined with Theater Connections performances. Our signature Making a Difference curriculum bring artists into the classroom to help students honor local heroes and celebrate their neighborhoods.

Public Art exhibits tour citywide and are traveling to multiple Upper Manhattan locations this year as a part of our Community Matters NYC initiative to celebrate Harlem’s culture, history and traditions.
