Andy Hewitt, the principal and creator of Claims Class has worked in the construction industry for almost 40 years, a significant period of which was spent dealing with contractual issues and claims.
Some years ago, he recognised that the standard of claims produced by construction industry professionals generally left a lot to be desired and did little to present the claimant’s case in a favourable light. Similarly, responses to and determinations of claims often fell short of answering the issues raised within the claims to the standard required by construction contracts. Both situations usually lead to claims remaining unresolved and often result in disputes between the parties, a situation that does nothing to help the wellbeing and progress of the project and future relationships.
Claims Class was created to teach the science of construction claims to those within the industry who either deal with such matters and wish to increase their knowledge, or wish to learn the skills to be able to prepare claims and responses and manage such matters to a professional standard. Our mission is to provide practical, hands-on education and training so that the standard of claims and responses within the industry is elevated to similar professional standards to that of other sectors of the industry. Our vision is to help persons with such skills to become part of the industry’s high earners and increase the profitability of projects.
To provide practical, accredited training on construction claims and produce graduates who, having successfully met course standards, will be able to work as competent and qualified claims practitioners.
To increase both the number of high earners within the construction industry and the profitability of projects, by delivering practical construction claims training courses that are based on real situations.
