Christmas in the City

Christmas in the City is a non-profit that provides holiday magic and memories to Boston-area families who are homeless or impoverished. Additionally, the organization provides concrete solutions to help families successfully transition from homelessness to independent living.

Through the generosity of the community, CITC has been able to expand its services each year since 1989. This year, a record 5,000 guests from homeless shelters attended a daylong celebration that included food, entertainment, individualized gifts, and a Winter Wonderland containing a fully-packed amusement park. The following day, 2000 struggling families were escorted on a festive shopping spree and left with toys, books, winter clothing and more.

CITC works year-round to help impoverished families with their daunting challenges; to find innovative solutions to homelessness; and to track and study patterns to understand the complex challenges faced by this courageous population. CITC has remained true to its mission to optimally benefit these families by remaining a 100% volunteer organization.
