Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners

Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners have been hosted at 100+ tech companies and startups for almost a decade, ever since Google hosted the first event of over 400 women in tech in January 2008. We are a community of over 14,000 women in tech in the greater Bay Area (subscribed to our mailing list) who are excited about learning about new technology, meeting other women in tech, and hearing their fellow girl geeks speak onstage at these events.

The retention and recruitment of mid-level and senior women in tech is a critical lever for increasing the number of women CEOs, executives, engineers and entrepreneurs. We aim to connect women across companies large and small for the purposes of networking and recruiting. At these events, women share thought leadership in their areas of STEM expertise, as well as career advice in the fast-paced tech industry.

To host a Bay Area Girl Geek Dinner, a sponsoring company provides food, drinks and co-branded schwag for all attendees hosted. For more info, email sponsor@bayareagirlgeekdinners.com - we are happy to talk about sponsorship of events, our upcoming podcast and curriculum development!

As this is an after-work event, we strongly recommend capping the speaking portion of the evening to one (1) hour event as this is mainly a networking-focused event for the attendees. For programming, we recommend having lightning tech talks (7-15 minutes) from a variety of women working at your company in roles including engineering, product, operations, sales, marketing, finance, etc. Sometimes girl geeks at the company give talks at demo stations around the room, science fair -style. A panel discussion may be followed by audience Q&A. Top executives (CEOs, CTOs) may consider being listed as a speaker to welcome and provide opening remarks. We gently discourage organizers from having male speakers (because most tech events are full of male speakers) at Girl Geek Dinners; we welcome all geeks at the hosting company to attend, network, recruit, listen to talks, etc. Check out our website at www.bayareagirlgeekdinners.com for more information - thank you!
