Battle for the Bridge is a 501c3 non profit that hosts a series of athletic contests between Oregon City and West Linn High School. These two schools have met on the football field every year since 1921, making Oregon City and West Linn the longest continuously played high school football rivalry west of the Mississippi.
Alumni from both schools are now working together to strengthen the bond between the Oregon City and West Linn communities while raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Battle for the Bridge was started in 2011 by two West Linn High School alumni, one of them being the father of a CF patient. The idea was to do something different to raise money to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. They decided on the alumni football game because this rivalry is something that the people of West Linn and Oregon City are very passionate about, and it’s a great way to introduce new people to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
