Arm & Arm is a peer to peer reentry organization; whose mission is to: “Empower Returning Citizens from Incarceration and Veterans with tools that will allow them to make ration evaluations of themselves their situations and their circumstances and then to go on to make proactive and healthy decisions as they navigate their way back into society.
In April 2016, we introduced the twelve-week Reentry/Outreach Outlet Program called “Game on the Line”, to the Nauck Green Valley Community of Arlington, Virginia. Since that time Arm & Arm has formed alliances with The Nauck Community Center, The Nauck Civic Association, CARE, Wayne Cutz and many community members to better understand and address the issues that continue to contribute to recidivism, homelessness and the lack of hope for positive change within the community.
We have instituted a regular informal community dialogue subgroup called “Shop Talk”, that stemmed from our Community Dialogue session held in September of 2016. Shop Talk is held the first and third Wednesday of the month at Wane Cutz Barbershop and is an opportunity for all community members to join in discussion on community, personal and national issues as well as current events.
Arm & Arm has been awarded The Gold Star Award from the Nauck Civic Association for its outreach efforts and community involvement such as voter registration, holding community forums and its overall innovative approach bridging gaps between returning citizens, their families and the community.
