Appel Farm Arts & Music Center

Appel Farm Arts & Music Center is an established and nationally renowned fine and performing arts organization, having received numerous awards and accolades for its activities. Founded in 1960, Appel Farm offers an internationally recognized Summer Arts Camp for children, Arts Education Programs for Schools, Community Arts Education and Outreach Programs that target underserved audiences, and Arts Classes at Appel Farm. Albert and Clare Appel, both professional artists and arts educators, believed that the arts play a crucial role in fostering a child’s learning skills, personal growth and sense of identity. They converted most of their 176‐acre farm near Elmer (Salem County), New Jersey, into a unique community of students and art educators. The Arts & Music Center was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-‐profit organization in 1978 with a professional staff and volunteer Board of Trustees. For 19 years Appel Farm has been designated a “Major Arts Presenting Organization” by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts in recognition of its “cultural contributions to the people of New Jersey.” It has also been awarded the Council’s prestigious “Citation of Excellence” on numerous occasions, placing it among the leading arts organizations in the state of New Jersey.

Appel Farm's mission is "to provide people of all ages, cultures and economic backgrounds with a supportive, cooperative environment in which to explore the fine and performing arts." We believe that the arts are an exciting and essential part of the learning process and that artistic talent is innate and waiting to be developed in every person.
