Annie Finch

Annie Finch is an award-winning poet, writer, teacher, and performer who offers spellbinding reading of poetry infused with magic. Her works include Spells: New and Selected Poems and five other books of poetry, as well as books and essays on poetry, meter, feminism, and witchcraft. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Penguin Book of Twentieth-Century American Poetry, and onstage at Carnegie Hall. Educated at Yale University (B.A.) and Stanford University (Ph.D.), Dr. Finch has taught widely and served for a decade as Director of the Stonecoast MFA Program in Creative Writing. Her multimedia poetic collaborations and commissioned poems have been produced at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has offered poetry readings on five continents and, through Poetry Witch Ritual Theater, performs and collaborates with artists in music, dance, theater and puppetry. Finch’s work has been shortlisted for the National Poetry Series, the Yale Series of Younger Poets, and the Foreword Poetry Book of the Year Award and she has been honored with the Sarasvati Award and the Robert Fitzgerald Award. Based in New York City and Maine, she travels to offer readings, workshops and retreats. She is the founder of The Magic of Rhythmic Writing, an original system of self-transformation using ancient poetic tools that is accessible to people of any background.
