Amoralfest 2013: Murder in the First

The Amoralists Theatre Company is proud to present AMORALFEST 2013: MURDER IN THE FIRST, a festival of full-length play readings cultivated from work presented this past year at the Amoralab. 

Looking back over the diverse and powerful material performed in the Amoralab since last June, a few plays shared certain themes on violence that suggested a conversation worth having and thus was born MURDER IN THE FIRST, the title of our inaugural AMORALFEST.  

These plays are funny, dangerous, raw, and generally preoccupied with murder - be it via assassination, hate crime, or good old fashioned kitchen knife.  Like all the plays we curate at the Amoralab, these plays are argument starters that exist in a world of ambiguous morality and where answers, if they exist at all, are inflammatory.  We invite you this April to come down to the Lower East Side with us to light a match and see what catches fire.

The following plays will be presented as rehearsed and directed readings performed by The Amoralists ensemble and invited guests. Please reserve your seat for any or all of the following performances:

Friday, April 12

Saturday, April 13

5:00 pm: SIMPROV by Laurence Klavan

8:00 pm: LISTENING FOR OUR MURDERER by Jordan Seavey

 

Sunday, April 14

1:00 pm: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE PORN by Bailey Williams

4:00 pm: SECRET SERVICE by John Prescod

7:00 pm: THE GIVEN by Francine Volpe


Admission is FREE, but space is limited, so be sure to register and get a ticket to reserve a seat! You can register for as many plays as you like as long as tickets are still available. 


Make sure you also join us for our closing night party on Sunday April 14th at 8pm at the Blind Barber (10th Street between A & B). Admission is $20.
