American Buddhist Study Center - Introducing Buddhist Values to Americans -

The American Buddhist Study Center, Inc. (ABSC), located on the upper West Side  at the NY Buddhist Church of New York City, still continues to run a full schedule of programs and events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, book discussions, movie reviews and guest speakers from a variety of cultural topics.

Formerly known as the American Buddhist Academy, the ABSC was founded in 1951 by the late Reverend Hozen Seki as a Buddhist cultural center. Rev. Seki sought to provide a Buddhist Study Center for people interested in learning more about Buddhism . The ABSC is known for its famous Buddhist reference and research library. There are over ten thousand volumes of Buddhist texts, manuscripts, and sutras, many of them that are very rare. These include books on Tibet Buddhism, Pure Land Buddhism, Chinese Buddhism, Japanese Shin and Zen Buddhism, Japanese history, Japanese classical literature, and Japanese classical poetry books.

ABSC is now a dynamic learning center of Buddhism to understand its historic and creative influence on Culture and the Arts in the world today.
