Alliance of the SouthEast (ASE)

ASE is a multicultural, interfaith coalition of churches, schools, businesses, and community organizations, and youth all working together to address the challenges facing the neighborhoods of Southeast Chicago. Since 2010, we have grown from into a powerful network of more than 45 community partners representing thousands of people.

We build the capacity of leaders, organizers, and associations that carry out community and social change. We envision a powerful grassroots base that impacts decision makers and wins real improvements in our neighborhoods.

Whether we’re ending youth violence, creating local jobs, reducing recidivism, or advocating for economic justice- our voices are stronger together!

 Current campaigns:

  • South Works campaign: Ensuring that the Southworks site benefits local communities through training, job, and education opportunities for local residents, affordable housing, environmental protections, and tax relief for long-time residents.
  • Youth Leadership Council: Ensuring youth have a voice in the community and develop their leadership skills to take action on community issues they identify.
  • GRACE: Restorative justice and mentoring program for at-risk youth, who are placed with local partners to form relationships with local residents, reconnect them to the community, and connect them with resources.
  • Germano Millgate Leadership Team & community safety: ASE organizes tenants in the Germano Millgate housing complex to address health/safety issues.
