A.J. Read Science Discovery Center and SUNY Oneonta Planetarium

COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, we are suspending all SDC and Planetarium programming through April 4th. We will be following the situation and will provide updates as needed. In addition to our scheduled programing, the Science Discovery Center's normal public hours are also suspended through April 4th.

The Science Discovery Center is a free, hands-on museum for people of all ages and abilities. Our mission is to connect visitors to the joy of scientific discovery through authentic interactive exhibits. Located in the Physical Science Building at SUNY Oneonta, we are open Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-3pm. The SUNY Oneonta Planetarium, located in the basement of Perna Science Building (a short walk from the Center) has been presenting live night-sky shows under its dome for over 50 years. Updated with a digital projection system, the SUNY Oneonta Planetarium can not only show the night sky, but also transport you across our solar system, galaxy and to the very edge of the known universe.

The Planetarium hosts Public Nights bi-weekly when class is in session, with observing at College Camp Observatory after (weather permitting). In conjunction with the Science Discovery Center, the Planetarium also offers Saturday Matinee shows.

Upcoming Show Dates Include:

Public Nights (Fridays at 7pm):

January 31, February 14, 28, March 20, April 3, 17, May 1, 15

Matinees (Saturdays at 2pm-usually)

February 22, March 7, March 28, April 11, 25, May 9

Free tickets for planetarium shows go on sale exactly two weeks (to the minute) before the show date/time. Shows with active tickets will appear below. Most shows "sell" out in minutes, so mark your calendar and be online when they go live!
