African People's Socialist Party

In May of 1972, at a time when the Black Liberation Movement had been destroyed as a movement and in a climate of political terror and brutal repression, Chairman Omali Yeshitela founded the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP).

“We, the advanced detachment of the African working class, its general staff, have organized this international organization to pursue the goal of the liberation and unification of Africa and African people under the leadership of the African working class as a critical component of the struggle to overthrow imperialism and all its representations and manifestations, including all forms of colonialism, and the establishment of the international dictatorship of the working class.”(Excerpted from the Constitution of the African Socialist International.) — Chairman Omali Yeshitela
