The Tropical Flowering Tree Society (TFTS) was formed in 1988 by a handful of enthusiasts interested in promoting, propagating and preserving tropical flowering trees. TFTS hosts the Royal Poinciana Festival, formerly known as the Royal Poinciana Fiesta, now in its 89th year. The longest continuously running festival in Miami-Dade celebrating the beauty of flowering trees and distributing scholarship money to young women studying horticulture in all its aspects and botany STEM related fields.
