Boston's Latin Quarter

Boston's Latin Quarter

Boston's Latin Quarter is a vibrant, diverse community in Jamaica Plain with rich history and cultural influences from the many Latinx immigrants that have called it home over the last several decades. Despite gentrification, these influences can still be felt and seen in the neighborhood's many restaurants, barber shops, hair salons, and murals. These influences are also uplifted through the many cultural events hosted in the neighborhood all year long, including our Annual 3 Kings Day Fiesta, Summer Series with concerts and other live arts activities, and our Halloween Fiesta.

Boston's Latin Quarter has been an official Massachusetts cultural district since 2018, thanks in large part to Hyde Square Task Force youth, as well as artists, businesses, residents and others who advocated for this recognition. The designation aims to preserve and uplift the decades of rich history and contributions of Latinx immigrants who have made our neighborhood what it is today. The City of Boston is the governing authority of Boston’s Latin Quarter and Hyde Square Task Force is the Managing Partner for the Latin Quarter.
