Sales Tax Exemptions in Kansas

When you set up your event, you’ll have to answer a couple brief questions in Tax Settings. Tax won’t be charged to you or the attendee if your event is sponsored by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, YWCA or other organization exempt from property taxation or otherwise tax exempt under one of the Kansas exemptions listed below. Annual Events by Nonprofit Organizations:

Is your event an annual event sponsored by a nonprofit organization under I.R.C. 501(c)(3) and exempt under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 79-3606(rr).

Instructional Seminars:

Is your event an instructional seminar required to meet professional continuing education requirements exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(2)?

Casual or Isolated Sales by Nonprofit Organizations:

Are you a nonprofit organization making sales exempt as occasional or isolated sales under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(3)?

Cultural and Historical Events:

 Is your event a cultural and historical event that occurs once every three years exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(4)?

Nonprofit Homeowners Associations:

Is your event for use and maintenance of a nonprofit homeowners association's recreational facilities exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(5)?

Instructional Lessons:

Is your event for instructional lesson exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(6)?

Government Parks, Campgrounds and Recreational Areas:

Is your event for an admissions to admission to federal, state, city, or county parks, campgrounds, and recreation areas exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(7)?

Church Camps and Religious Retreats:

Is your event a church camp or religious retreat exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs. 92-19-22a(c)(8)?

Charges by Park and Recreation Departments:

Is your event a charge for an entry fee, league fee, or other participant fee charged by park and recreation departments exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs.  §92-19-22b(c)(1)?

Youth Recreational Organizations:

Are you a youth recreational organization exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs.  §92-19-22b(c)(3)?

Automobile Races:

Is your event an automobile race exempt under Kan. Admin. Regs.  §92-19-22b(c)(4)?

Hunting Events:

Is your event a guided or non-guided hunting event exempt under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 79-3606(gggg).
