Set up "Tap to pay" for sales at the door

If you want to sell tickets at your event using the Eventbrite Organizer App, set up Tap to pay to process credit card payments. Tap to pay lets you collect payment information from a contactless payment method, like a debit card or pay app, with just the Organizer App. If you meet the requirements, you can activate Tap to pay by downloading the Eventbrite Organizer app and going to Payment methods.

Requirements for "Tap to pay"

Tap to pay is currently only available for users who meet the following requirements:

Region availability

Tap to pay is available for organizers in Australia, Canada, the United States, or the United Kingdom.

Device requirements

Android

  • Android 11 and above

  • The Eventbrite Organizer app  version 9.14 or later

  • Near-field communication (NFC), bluetooth, and location tracking are turned on

  • Uses Google Mobile Services and has the Google Play Store app installed

iOS

Event requirements

Payment requirements

Tap to pay supports the following payment methods:

  • Contactless cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover (iOS and US only), American Express

  • Near-field communication (NFC) wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay

Account requirements

Using "Tap to pay"

Activate "Tap to pay."

Log in to the Eventbrite Organizer app. Then:

  1. Tap the menu button in the top left.

  2. Select Device settings.

  3. Select Payment methods.

  4. Activate Tap to pay.

  5. Accept the requested permissions.

This feature requires permission to access location tracking, bluetooth, and NFC. Activating Tap to pay will take up to a minute to complete.

If this option doesn't appear, confirm you meet the requirements for this feature.

Take payments at your event

When you sell tickets at your event, select Tap to pay as the payment method. Then hold the attendee's payment method to your device to take payment.

A confirmation screen will appear to confirm the transaction is complete.
