Event description

Description

Saturday, September 28, 2019, marks the highly anticipated release of this year’s Cantillon Zwanze. Arguably the most anticipated release in the World of beer, Zwanze is ONLY available on tap at select locations worldwide. We at Armsby Abbey are elated to again be hand-picked by Cantillon’s Jean van Roy as one of only 28 locations in the USA (71 locations worldwide) to pour Zwanze 2019.

"This year’s Zwanze beer is a “wholly unique brew” consisting of a smoked Lambic that incorporates a blend of classic pilsner malt and smoked malt that was brewed on March 1, 2016 and begged on Jan. 26, 2018.

Rather than taking the beer to an extreme, we looked instead to find a balance between the acidic character of Lambic and the woodiness of the smoked malt, the result is a fine Gueuze with the classic notes of a Cantillon, complemented by an elegant smokiness in the nose and on the palate."

Zwanze 2019 is a ticketed event at Armsby Abbey; included in your ticket price will be the following:

- Exclusive access to the Zwanze Day tent (set up outside adjacent to Armsby Abbey)

- Zwanze 2019 commemorative glassware

- (1) 6oz pour of Zwanze 2019

- Glidden Point Oyster Bar

- Farmstead Cheese & Charcuterie Station

- Belgian Liege Waffle Station

Beyond the above, within the Zwanze Day tent we will have custom Zwanze/Abbey t-shirts available for purchase, a separate table for bottle sales, featuring an array of Cantillon and then some, (all bottles TBA & must be consumed on premise) and a draft station. We will be pouring 10+ beers on tap which will ONLY be available within the tent on a per pour, CASH basis; no credit cards.

Armsby Abbey will be open to the public regular business hours serving brunch from 10AM-3PM and dinner from 4PM-11PM; the bar will be open throughout the day until midnight with its own stellar draught line-up; stay tuned for additional details!
