Zumbathon charity event to benefit the National Capital A Cinderella Ball presented by The House Student Leadership Center.

Founded by The House Student Leadership Center, an originator and provider of youth out-of-school time programs in the Washington, D.C. region, the National Capital A Cinderella Ball is a quality-of-life public service initiative guided by their students’ input and values for the inclusion of their peers living with a life-limiting disability or illness. The gala features a banquet, entertainment, awards, and after-party. Individual and corporate donors partner with The House Student Leadership Center’s consciousness of youth leadership and social justice matters in communities to build a more equitable and inclusive world.

The House Student Leadership Center welcomes Academy Award winning actor, Grammy Award winning musical artist and renowned comedian, Jamie Foxx, and renowned artist David Garibaldi to perform at its thirteenth anniversary gala and presentation of the National Capital A Cinderella Ball in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at The Willard InterContinental. One of Washington, D.C.’s most recognized charity events and a respected youth advocacy project, the National Capital A Cinderella Ball celebrates children of America’s men and women in uniform affected by a life-limiting disability or illness. Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is the Honorary Host of the 2018 anniversary gala.

The House, Inc. was founded in 2005 to address challenges and opportunities of the modern teen.  A sense of community and power, our systems include out-of-school time initiatives and programs in Prince William County, Virginia and the Washington, DC region.  It’s athletes and artists, cheerleader captains and gamers, together forming the newest generation of activists, creators, and innovators.

out-of-school time programs are open to students, grades 4 -12, Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 6:30 pm.  Breakfast before school and dinner after school is ?served daily.  Summer is flexible in format, teen-minded.

Student members access multi-sport play and development, academic support, and heightened learning experiences.  High school students have the early advantage of our distinguished EmpowerMEnt® Student Leadership Certificate Program with UVA DARDEN and the option to earn college credit after school at the Center in a joint program with Northern Virginia Community College.

The House, Inc.’s Mentoring Program sets teen purpose in motion through practice in consideration of discipline, drive, and personal development.   on-site Office on Youth Behavioral Health and Wellness, a case-based service, carries the same mindset when dealing with performance pressures using Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Neurofeedback Training.

Taking social justice beyond the limit is the National Capital A Cinderella Ball, an annual capstone project of  student members.

The 2019-20 Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington recognized The House, Inc. as "One of the Best" high-impact nonprofits for its dropout prevention and mentoring programs in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.
