Even before COVID-19, the application of AI was already influencing how we approached healthcare, as we witnessed with its usage in detecting cancer in patients and software that helps nurses arrive at a faster diagnosis. The question is, are we really aware of the ethical implications on privacy of the individual and respect of human dignity that AI is having in terms of our medical health? How can we ensure that AI-based technologies benefit the whole of mankind?
“Zoom into AI & Healthcare” is a virtual workshop designed to bring together interdisciplinary stakeholders on the discussion of ethical AI used to help fight COVID-19. Connecting experts from a variety of backgrounds - including data science, ethics, political theory, health care, etc. - the event will provide a digital setting for the critical examination of AI and data usage in the current crisis. This will be followed by an in-depth debate of its ethical impacts, all with the goal of coming to a strong, more holistic understanding of the impacts the technology we are creating today to fight the virus will have on society, tomorrow.
*This is an interdisciplinary workshop, no prior knowledge in either AI or Ethics is required to participate.
