Event description

Description

Guest lecturer Dr. Itzik Eshel will lead this study of the history of Zionism from its nineteenth-century inception in central Europe to its contemporary legacy. Along the way we will meet the leading thinkers and activists of Zionism and consider the following questions:

  • Was Zionism a unique national movement?
  • Was Zionism the answer to the “Jewish Question”?
  • Is Zionism still relevant in today’s world?
  • What is the place of Israel in the lives of Jews around the world today?
  • Who are the post-Zionists and do they have a place in today’s academic discourse?
  • What is BDS and is it Anti-Zionist or Anti-Semitic?

Join us in this fascinating discussion and exploration of Zionism! The class will meet on Thursdays, April 26, May 3, 10 and 17 from 10-11:30 AM.

If you would prefer to register by phone and pay via check, please call the temple office at (202) 363-6394.
