Grades 9-12: STEM High School Program:

Week 1- July 14th – July 18th – Robotics, Engineering & Technology

Course Description:

Students will learn how to identify a real-world problem and search the problem using scholarly web sources. Students will learn how to design, build and program an autonomous Robot. 

Week 2 -July 21st – July 25 th – Media Arts, Pre-Health Profession Exploration & Film Editing

Course Description:

Students will explore career paths in the areas of S.T.E.M. and will explore the arts of filming by creating mini movies. Students will learn how to assemble shots into a coherent sequence.

Students will learn aspects of media arts production such as ethnographies of newsrooms in newspapers, journalists in the field and film production.

Week 3- July 28th – August 1st – Biogeography: Exploration of Long Island’s Bio-Diversity 

Course Description: Biogeography is a week-long outdoor program, where students will be challenged to explore Long Island’s bio-diversity through critical thinking an hands-on studies. Watershed areas including freshwater river, estuary, salt marsh, benthic zone, and forest will be examined using scientific testing and sampling equipment: Students will about the GPS, maps and field guides reading, formation of Long Island-a geological perspective, North Shore and inter-tidal studies, microclimate and organism’s nice in the environment, Canoe trip don the Peconic River. 

Week 4 -August 4th – August 8th–Computer Game Design

Course Description:

Students will take an original idea from invention to completion

Will collaboratively design, develop and then publishing their games using industry-standard tools.

Grades 3-8: STEM Elementary and Middle School Program:

Week 1- July 14th – July 18th – Robotics, Engineering & Technology

Course Description:

Week 3- July 28th – August 1st – Aerospace & Lego Design

Course Description: Through Math and technology, students will learn about tire technology and the effects of air pressure. They also will learn about the four forces of flight. Students will engage in hands-on activities.Students will construct Lego mission models related to a STEM related project.

Week 4 -August 4th – August 8th–Computer Game Design

Course Description:

Students will take an original idea from invention to completion

Will collaboratively design, develop and then publishing their games using industry-standard tools.

Registration for the Summer Program has been extended!

Please request applications via email before the end of  June 30 2014

There is a $30 fee for registration

Tuition for the 4 weeks $500 (Financial Aide are available)

Scholarships are still available for Grades 9-12 

Transportation is available to the program from Elmont to Farmingdale roundtrip

with a small fee of  $10 a day
