Event description

Description

Our PD Days at Zen Maker Lab are a great way for kids and youth to have fun while learning some useful skills. This workshop focused on building the myLight.

Locally designed, this clock tells time with coloured lights. An Arduino microcontroller controls 12 full-spectrum LEDs to create the effect of moving hands. The package is cut from sheets of acrylic with a laser cutting machine. Construction typically takes about 3 hours to complete, and involves the use of a variety of hand tools. The device is programmed using Scridgets, a unique graphical programming environment, developed in BC.

Participants will also get an overview of the various tools at Zen Maker Lab including the 3D printers.
