Back by popular demand, we are pleased to offer 10 maker tech sampler PD camp sessions for kids in the 2016/2017 school year!
This hands-on workshop is held at Zen Maker Lab in North Vancouver, the leading maker lab in the Lower Mainland with a focus on kids and educators.
This is for kids 7-12. No previous maker experience required.
For those new at Zen Maker Lab, there are four sessions that participants rotate around to during the day.
1. 3D design, 3D printing and 3D scanning - design and print a 3D model and get scanned for a mini-me 3D print
2. Intro to electronics - build a circuit board
3. Arduino project - laser cut and program an LED display
4. Coding & the Mirobot - learn to code with a drawing robot
For kids that have already done one of our sampler days or summer/spring camps, they will instead work in a group on a custom maker project such as building a mini-drone, designing jewellery or making a 3D printed mini-town. We will discuss possible project topics at the beginning of the day and pick one based on the interests of the group and then an instructor will guide them through the process of designing, making, testing and redesigning.
All supplies are included in the workshop price (retail value of approximately $25-$50). You will bring lots of cool projects home. You can also purchase a Mirobot at a discounted price ($75 vs. the regular $100-$125 regular retail price) to bring home with you.
We maintain a high teacher to student ratio (at least one adult instructor for every 10 kids)
Our most common feedback from kids is "best camp ever!"
