Description

Zen Maker Club Saturday Morning Program

This 6-session maker tech program on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am is intended for kids ages 8 to 12 years old that would like to supplement their learning in a creative maker lab space. We are also offering this program on Mondays from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm focused on home school kids.

We have three program offerings: A program focused on "design", a program focused on "make" and a program focused on "play". Each area has 30 weeks of material (spread over four, after school program sessions each year) with three levels each that together form an innovative curriculum tied in with BC learning goals that encompasses 270 hours of learning.

The Design program focuses on: 3D Design, Media, 3D Coding & VR, and Web and Graphics Design

The Make program focuses on: Basic Electronics, Luminous Project, STEAM Stories, and Build a 3D Printer

The Play program focuses on: Movement Assessment, Sports Tech, Game Play Strategies and Sports Competition

In the registration area, you can select which of these three Design, Make or Play tracks you would like your child enrolled in. Please note that the design and the make programs also have a small component of play in them as well so that we have an integrated program that involves computers, hands-on work and some physical movement. The programs are designed so that you your child can discover the area most of interest to them but also so they can cover them all if they like.

The focus of the Zen Maker Club program is for kids to have fun while gaining useful skills in electronics, engineering, mathematics, 3D design and 3D printing, coding and art, design and usability and some introductory entrepreneurship and applying these skills into both beginner and advanced maker projects.

We have an experienced team of industry instructors leading the program and an instructor to student ratio of no more than one instructor for every ten kids. Our instructors are all very experienced and come from a variety of backgrounds including computer science, interactive design, engineering, business and art/design.

General supplies are included in the program (e.g. 3D printing filament, laser cutting materials, basic shop supplies).
