This 5 day retreat is the most important annual event in Zen. It celebrates the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama Shakyamuni Buddha, our Founder.

More importantly this offering invites you to set aside time to cultivate your own enlightenment. Zen is not a yoke to a set of beliefs. Zen is about personal salvation, healing, and liberation found in the revolutionary identity and engagement with all creation.

Zen Garland has moved to the Sedona area of Arizona. Its only reason for being is to help those who choose to participate to awaken and engage with full humanity in universal well being.

We welcome all experienced meditators. Our sesshin schedule includes Zazen (seated meditation), Kinhin (walking meditation), Embodiment practice (yoga) and Focusing (practice for emotional wellbeing). We intend that all registered participants follow our schedule. All Koan students of Roshi Genki and Genmitsu must set aside time and attend at least one of two annual weeklong sesshins (December and June) to continue koan practice and Zen studies.
