Event description
Exploring and deepening the intimate connection with yourself and the world all around you. Guidance, support, and close teaching provided.

About this Event

Within the Zen tradition, Ango refers to a 90-day
period of intensified Zen practice which steps us into intensified engaged life practice where we are focus on developing deepening presence in living.  This year, our Ango period this year will extend to 108 days.

Practice at our center is not based on a monastic model, but on the discipline of worldly life, where we must remain present and balanced while serving multiple roles and meeting multiple responsibilities.   Our Ango practice also reflects our worldly life.  We gather together with the intention of collaborating and devoting our shared energies to deepening the various aspects of our life practices.  These practices are vehicles through which we cultivate learning and impact our individual ability to have a direct and intimate relationship with our humanness.  This impact does not stop there but echoes outward with the energy of influence to impact our interaction with and upon our families, our communities and our world.

Commit to part or full-time attendance in most of our retreat days offered monthly February through May.

Commit to a continuous regular practice in the areas you have self-selected to develop in your personal practice.

Take on a service project that will take place over the course of the Ango period.

This service project can take on a variety of community, family, personal needs.  Examples might include volunteering at the warming house, taking on volunteering as a reading buddy at a school, helping shovel in your neighborhood…the scope and specifics are of course yours to determine.

The idea in all of these commitments is to set realistic, accomplishable goals that can help you to establish, strengthen or deepen your practice.  Additionally, these commitments allow you to see how your practice interweaves in meaningful ways in the contexts of your life.

Cost of participating in Ango 2020- $175 for full practice and retreats including meals, snacks, tea, etc.

Cost of attending only full day zazenkai (May ) retreat-$60.
