Zen and the Art of Middle Aged Running
Event Information
About this Event
Back in March 2020 when the gyms closed, I started running for exercise and to structure my day while working from home. Way back in the day as a postgrad student I ran a few 10ks in c.52 minutes which isn’t rubbish but is far from speedy, and I hadn’t run very far or very fast for over 25 years, during which time I’ve had three kids and broken a leg. Now I’m training to run a half marathon (13.1 miles) and hoping to finish in under 2 hours. How did this happen? I thought I’d talk a bit about running and how it intersects with the themes of data, identity, being goal oriented, our inconvenient bodies and joy.
