Enjoy an onstage conversation featuring author Zadie Smith, followed by audience Q&A and book signing.

Delve into the life and passions of the bestselling author of White Teeth, On Beauty, NW, and Feel Free. Since her debut novel White Teeth was published at age 24, Zadie Smith has established herself as one of the most iconic, critically respected, and popular writers of her generation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zadie Smith is the author of the novels White Teeth, The Autograph Man, On Beauty, NW and Swing Time, as well as two collection of essays, Changing My Mind and Feel Free.

Zadie was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002, and was listed as one of Granta’s 20 Best Young British Novelists in 2003 and again in 2013. White Teeth won multiple literary awards including the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Guardian First Book Award. On Beauty was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won the Orange Prize for Fiction, and NW was shortlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction. She contributes regularly to The New Yorker and the New York Review of Books on a range of subjects. Zadie Smith is currently a tenured professor of fiction at New York University and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Which books will be available for purchase?

Is there a limit to the number of tickets I can order?

Yes, you can order 10 tickets of each ticket type per order/transaction.

How do I purchase a ticket to both the reception and the presentation?

You may purchase a ticket to the presentation on this page (scroll up and select the Tickets button). For an additional cost, you may make a separate purchase for the fundraiser reception hosted by the Westerville Library Foundation on this page.

Can I get a ticket at the door?

If the event is not yet full, you may get a ticket onsite. Please know that there are a limited number of seats and that ticket availability may be limited. No entry is allowed without a ticket.

Can I choose my seat?

You will be able to choose your seat when you arrive at the venue - seating is first come, first served.

How do I purchase a student ticket?

To purchase a student ticket, enter the discount code "student126" at checkout. (Student ID must be shown at the door upon request.)

I plan to attend this event with my child. Should I order a ticket for both of us?

You must order a ticket for any child occupying a seat in the auditorium. However, you may attend with one child under 2 years old in your lap without acquiring an extra ticket.


What is your refund policy?

At this time, we are unable to offer a refund. All sales are final.

My plans have changed and I can no longer attend this event. What should I do?

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You must show either a printed ticket or your ticket on a mobile device.


What time does seating begin?

Doors open and seating begins at 6pm.

How does the book signing work?

Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the book signing.

Upon arrival, you will receive an event program with a letter on it that corresponds to your place in the book signing line. The earlier you arrive, the earlier you will be released for the book signing. (Letter A ticket holders will have their books signed first, then Bs, and so forth.)

"Action" or candid photos of you having your book signed by the author are welcome. No posed photos, please.

Limit of 3 books per person. (No memorabilia, please.)

Please note that the book signings may take some time. These are large events and the author is given the opportunity to interact with guests as they choose, so lines may be long. Staff are trained to keep the line moving as efficiently as possible. Restrictions for signing are subject to the author, their management or event circumstances.

Can I get my book signed without purchasing a ticket?

No. To be eligible for the book signing, you must have a ticket to the event.

When and where can I purchase books and what forms of payment will be accepted?

The book sale will be located in the common area outside the auditorium. Credit card, check and cash payments are accepted. The book sale will remain open based upon demand and book availability.

At the conclusion of the author's presentation, feel free to exit the auditorium to make book purchases. Or, once you are released for the book signing, let a staff member know you'd like to purchase a book and we'll hold your spot in line.
