Yuletide at the Bauern
Overview
Step into the warmth of the season with Bauernhaus Yuletide, a midwinter celebration inspired by one of the world’s oldest solstice traditions. Yule traces back thousands of years to ancient Norse and Germanic peoples, honoring the return of the Sun after the longest night and the rebirth of the fertile land. This December, Carolina Bauernhaus invites you to gather in that same spirit of light, music, and community.
We’re thrilled to welcome Émigré, a musical ensemble devoted to sharing the rich folklore, ballads, and lively reel and jig traditions of the North Atlantic Islands—Scotland, England, and Ireland. Their performances weave music, storytelling, and history into an unforgettable experience, guided by the talented Saro Lynch-Thomason.
Throughout the evening, you can:
🔥 5-6 PM: Create your own Yule log using locally sourced and foraged materials
🎶 6-8 PM: Live music + learn a few wassailing tunes and raise your voice with Émigré
🍽️ Enjoy a holiday-inspired meal from the Fermentery Kitchen
🍻 Sip award-winning, locally crafted beers, ciders, and NA beverages
You can listen to several full songs and song samples at https://www.sarosings.com/performances-and-workshops/emigre/. This page also features several music videos
