Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center is celebrating its 45th Anniversary with a gala event to be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Santa Clara Marriott.  Join us for a gala evening of Bridging Generations highlighted by Keynote Speaker, Kristi Yamaguchi - Olympic, World, U.S. Ice Skating Champion and entertainment by Herb Ohta Jr. - Ukulele Virtuoso, and a special performance by San Jose Taiko

This event is dedicated to the late Jimi Yamaichi, a longtime supporter, advocate and advisor of Yu-Ai Kai.


Honorees include Brian and Sachi Iwashita as recipients of the Akira Kamiya Spirit of Yu-Ai Award; Yoshihiro Uchida  as recipient of the Kay Shimizu Memorial Award, and Lynne Yamaichi/Lotus Preschool and Wayne Adachi/Wesley Jazz Ensemble as recipients of the Ray and Lucy Matsumoto Community Award.

Join Yu-Ai Kai; Presenting Benefactors, Ray & Lucy Matsumoto and Brian & Sachi Iwashita; Principal Benefactor, Steve & Sue Yamamoto; VIP Reception Sponsors, Yoshihiro Uchida and Joyce Iwasaki; and Primary Sponsor, Alan & Lynn Minato for an eventful evening of bridging generations.

All proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit Yu-Ai Kai Community Senior Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Event Schedule:

5:30 pm - Registration, Reception, and Silent Auction.

6:15 pm - San Jose Taiko performance.

6:30 pm - Dinner, Entertainment, and Program.

For tax purposes, we have estimated the fair market value of the event to be $125 per person.  Tax ID #94-2427398.



What is the dress attire for the event?



If I purchased more than one ticket or a table of 10, do I need to include a phone number and/or an email address for each of my guest?

The ticket purchasing process requires a phone number and email address for each attendee, but you can use one contact phone number and email address for some or all of your guests.


What if I don't have a complete (or confirmed) guest list at the time of placing an order?

You may temporarily enter a potential attendee or your name more than once to complete your order. Once your guests are confirmed, you may email your completed guest list to us. All guest names are included in the event program and is also used to check-in guests at Registration. No tickets are issued for this event. Please email any attendee/guest changes to by March 1, 2019 so that our guest list is updated.

What are my parking options for getting to and from the event?

Onsite self-parking of $8 will be validated by Yu-Ai Kai.

Special group rate of $129 USD per night at the Santa Clara Marriott.

Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center, a nonprofit senior center located in San Jose's historic Japantown, is committed to serving seniors with an array of activities, programs, and services.

We offer a senior day care program, a well-balanced nutritious lunch service, social services, and a variety of classes, activities and trips for seniors, all designed to enable healthy aging.

Serving our seniors with Friendship & Love since 1974,  Yu-Ai Kai currently serves 3,000+ seniors annuallyWhile our roots are in Japanese / Japanese American culture and tradition, the programs and services are open to any senior in our community.
