Event description

Description

Is the Border Adjustment Tax (the “BAT”) at death’s door? As initially intended, the BAT would give tax breaks to American companies that ship products to other countries, and conversely, strip away tax breaks from American companies that import goods. Heated debate has resulted since the BAT was first introduced as a component of the GOP-sponsored tax reform. However, legislative interest seemed to wax and wane. Join us Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 pm for a group discussion and happy hour at Fire & Sage in Metro Center.

Opening remarks by Charles Blum, President of International Advisory Services Group (http://iasworldtrade.com/), a boutique consultancy specializing in American trade, competitiveness and investment issues. He will take us on a deep dive into the BAT debate and explore other ideas of tax reform with powerful but sometimes ignored implications on international trade.

Directions: 775 12th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20005
(Easily accessible via the Red Line to Metro Center as well as by a number of different bus lines. Main entrance from lobby of Washington Marriott at Metro Center, 12th & G.)
