Event description

Description

As the US is in the middle of negotiations with its Canadian and Mexican counterparts to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), it is important to take a look at US-Canada Relations.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau once told the National Press Club that "Living next to [the US] is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt."

How do Canadian's perceive the United States, and vice versa? With the longest unguarded border, billions of dollars of bilateral trade and hundreds of thousands of jobs on both sides of the border dependent on good relations between the two countries, how will current changes affect the status quo? Are there other options for both countries?

Join us as we discuss the book Doing the Continental: A New Canadian-American Relationship by David Dyment. The book is available on Amazon for as low as $9.99 new/$8.99 used/$7.99 Kindle. We will have plenty of time to do reading over the holidays, and then come back nice and refreshed and ready to discuss!
