Description

The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation invites you to participate in a group discussion about how best to achieve long-term sustainability through the Sustainable Development Goals, and how youth can be involved.

Through these free, focused discussions, participants will:

  • Learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Connect with other youth
  • Contribute to the conversation as we gather your feedback to help guide Canada’s approach to working toward the SDGs.

This session in particular will focus on including youth perspectives and issues as Canada works toward implementing Agenda 2030 and a more sustainable future. Youth is defined as those under age 29 for this discussion.

Summarized learning from the focus groups will be shared with participants, as well as government departments working to implement the SDGs in Canada.

We invite you to join the conversation by registering here to attend!

Background:

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are part of a sweeping agenda to provide a shared global vision with concrete targets to help ensure a better world for all. At MCIC, we know that Manitobans are global citizens with a lot to contribute to the conversation and national strategy to achieve the SDGs.

To help start this conversation, MCIC will bring together community representatives from diverse sectors in different dialogues across Manitoba. We will facilitate the discussion around key considerations and approaches, as we contribute to the conversation on how to best develop a national strategy to implement the 2030 Agenda. The learning from these sessions will be shared with the federal government and is a key contribution to a comprehensive national strategy.

If you have any questions, please contact pe [at] mcic.ca or read more about the national strategy here. This event is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Sustainable Development Goals program (Employment and Social Development Canada).
