2014 KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Mark DeVries and Jared Herd
Mark DeVries is the founder of Youth Ministry Architects (2002), Children’s Ministry Architects(2010), and Small Church Ministry Architects(2011), hands-on coaching services for churches whose ministries are in transition or who hope to move their ministries strategically forward. In 2013 all three divisions of the company were consolidated under the name MINISTRY ARCHITECTS, which more accurately addresses the scope of the work Mark and his team are engaged in with churches around the country and abroad. Since 1986, Mark has served as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Their Families at First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee, where he continues to oversee the youth ministry on a part-time basis. Mark is the author of a number of books, including Sustainable Youth Ministry (IVP, 2008), Family-Based Youth Ministry (IVP, Revised and Expanded, 2004) and 2011 releases, Before You Hire a Youth Pastor and The Indispensable Youth Pastor (Group Publishing), both co-authored with YMA Vice-President, Jeff Dunn-Rankin. Mark served as the General Editor for the 2013 release, Letters to a Youth Worker (CYMT, 2013).
Jared Herd is the Creative Director for XP3, the student division of the Rethink Group. Jared has served on staff of North Point Community Church and as a Teaching Pastor at Rock Harbor Church, a church composed of thousands of college students. Since 2004, he has been a regularly featured speaker at Bigstuf Camps, one of the largest Christian Camps in the country for middle and high school students. His first book, More Lost than Found: Finding a Way Back to Faith was just released.
