Event description

Description

Youth Mental Health First Aid training is an 8 hour evidence based training. YMHFA is included in SAMHSA National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.

This 8 hour interactive training will prepare you to recognize the signs and symptoms of a youth experiencing a mental health issue or crisis. You will not learn to diagnose but to recognize a youth in need.

Join us for this training to better understand what mental health is, what some of the common diagnoses are and how to respond to youth who might be experiencing a crisis. This training helps to remove the stigma of mental illness. It prepares you to help youth with a mental health issue before it becomes a crisis.

Those that successful complete the training will receive a 3 year certification as a Youth Mental Health First Aider. Aunt Martha's will offer CEUs in social work and CEs for those in nursing. Also, many employers accept this course for Continuing Education Units - please contact me if you have questions.

The Now Is the Time AWARE-C Grant makes it possible for everyone attending to receive the training and a manual at no charge. Sometimes First Aid isn’t a Band aid – Sometimes it is YOU!!

There will be a working lunch. Lunch will be provided by Marshall Baptist Church.
