About this event

More than 20 million Americans experience a mental health challenge in any given year. In the world we live in today especially, it is very important for all of us to recognize behavior change and understand potential signs and symptoms in our loved ones, colleagues or community members. Mental Health First Aid does not teach us to diagnose but how to safely approach and assess situations and refer to appropriate professionals.

Learners are encouraged to participate in every exercise and remain engaged in the learning process. The class is led by two instructors through the Zoom  platform and requires a 2 hour self-paced course prior to the scheduled training.

The Mental Health First Aid course focuses on recognizing the patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors and appearance that show there might be a challenge rather than focusing on specific disorder. Participants  will learn an action plan that they apply to non-crisis and crisis scenarios.

Learners will receive a link to begin their journey to becoming a Mental Health First Aider. A 2 hour self-paced course is required for each participant two weeks prior to the scheduled class. Participants will be joining a network of more than 2 million people who have made the commitment to making a difference in the lives of those living with a mental health challenge.  #BeTheDifference
