YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

FOR TEENS IN GRADES 9-12

GREENVILLE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP

OCTOBER 13-15, 2017

The Greenville UU Fellowship in Greenville SC will host a Youth Leadership Development Training the weekend of October 13-16, 2017. This event is sponsored by the Greenville UU Fellowship, in partnership with members of the Southern Region Congregational Life Staff and other trained facilitators.

Onsite registration and check-in begins at 6:00 PM, and evening programming at 8:00 PM.

Sessions continue all day and evening on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, October 16, leadership youth will finish their workshops and attend a worship service as part of our congregational teach-in on white privilege, racial justice, and reconciliation.

We'll have closing circle and light lunch after service. Drivers should plan to arrive for pick up between 1:00 and 1:30 PM.

This Leadership Development Training is entirely new, authored by Southern Region Congregational Live Staff member Natalie Briscoe, who specializes in Youth Ministry. This training has evolved from wide experience in leadership development, and it is specifically designed to be developmentally appropriate for teens.

Registration is $175 for each youth participant. There is no cost for instructors and facilitators. We need at least 15 participants for the event to happen, with a maximum of 25. The registration fee includes camp-out-style lodging in the church, prepared meals, and all supplies. Home hospitality is available for adult facilitators, with local chaperones handling overnight duties.

Our intention is to provide high quality leadership training for youth that reflects current research and understandings of leadership models and practices in a context that is practical, affordable, and accessible. Youth who participate will walk away with real skills they can use in their home congregations, and in whatever they do going forward. Leadership skills are LIFE skills that support excellence and right relationship in all kinds of contexts.
