Youth Leadership and Activism Conference
Event Information
Description
High school students! Join us to learn basic activist skills and end discrimination in school discipline!
What is the School-to-Prison pipeline?
The School-to-Prison pipeline is the systematic push of students out of school through overly harsh discipline policies and practices. These policies and practices can take the form of zero tolerance discipline, the misuse of School Resource Officers (SROs), and the overuse of suspensions/expulsions.
For more information on the School-to-Prison pipeline go to -http://www.acluutah.org/blog/item/879-breaking-down-the-school-to-prison-pipeline.
What Can You Do About It?
Be part of the movement to end the School-to-Prison pipeline!
The conference is focused on developing the skills in youth that will empower you to organize and advocate against the School-to-Prison pipeline. Although, these activist skills will be useful for other causes and leadership positions.
Students are the ones impacted by this problem and students can make a difference by learning basic activist skills.
