Event description

Description

Register your middle and high school student TODAY for EAI’s Youth Empowerment Day. This dynamic, thought-shifting day comprises two key events the Y-Lead Symposium (open to middle and high school students) and Leading Thru the Arts Showcase (open to the public)

Y-Lead Symposium is open to middle and high school students in Alachua and surrounding communities. This dynamic, thought-shifting event will feature interactive workshops and activities centered on the five disciplines; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M), and an interactive session with a representative from the University of Florida Office of Admissions. The event will also feature award winning entries from EAI’s Youth Social Science Poster Competition.

Leading Thru the Arts Showcase is open to the public. This evening of music, dance, drama, poetry, and more showcases the unique and impressive performing arts talents of elementary, middle, and high school students in Alachua and surrounding counties. Part proceeds from the event benefit Star Center Children's Theatre, a local “non-profit organization that provides arts education and performance opportunities to area youth and their families.”

Youth Empowerment Day will take place on April 13, 2019, at the University of Florida, JW Reitz Union Rion Ballroom, Gainesville, Florida,
