Youth Cultural Book & Arts Festival
Event Information
Description
On Sunday, April 7, 2019, the Northern Virginia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. will host its inaugural Youth Cultural Book & Arts Festival to celebrate and promote the benefits of literacy and learning.
Our Youth Cultural Book & Arts Festival will feature both national and local authors and aims to engage the breadth of the community by hosting author readings, panel discussions, book signings, a poetry slam, a literary puppet show and more.
For this year’s event we have partnered with numerous award-winning authors including Erica Armstrong Dunbar, writer, historian and Rutgers University professor who wrote Never Caught, the powerful narrative of Ona Judge, George and Martha Washington’s runaway slave; Amanda Lucidon, photographer and filmmaker who published several books including Chasing Light and Reach Higher documenting her time as the official White House photographer to former First Lady Michelle Obama; and local author Jesse Holland, who wrote Who is the Black Panther? He will share his experience about developing a novel from the Marvel comic.
Sponsorships, program book advertisements and vendor spots are available! Contact jjnovabookfestival@gmail.com for more information on supporting the festival.
