Event description

Description

With almost 50% of children in grades 4th through 12th, experiencing being bullied, it’s time to strengthen and diversify our approach to resolving this problem. Because we cannot control what others do, our solution is to foster self confidence as well as social and emotional skills through the practice of teamwork.

We teach children about self respect, respect for others and the confidence required to navigate through life's challenges as we assist in the development of your child's athletic skills through the sport of boxing.

Why boxing?

At first, boxing may seem counter intuitive, but this sport isn't about aggression, this sport serves as a tool to develop both physical and mental strength as well as patience and self control. Participants are also encouraged to build trusting relationships with their teammates, coaches and parents, a skill which transcends the ring and into many other life settings.

Onnit Academy trainer and professional MMA fighter, Sean Clements, alongside expert boxing coach, Joseph Suniga, will be spending an hour and a half teaching you and your child boxing basics through demonstrations and assisted practice. Expect to learn both strategic warm up routines and boxing skills that may can easily be practiced between parent and child well beyond this workshop.

Please dress in appropriate gym attire and don't forget to bring a water bottle!
